Established in the 1920s, Eastern Iowa Airport started out as a private airfield that was used mainly for airmail purposes. Over time, the airfield expanded but it didn't offer passenger service until the late 1940s. By 1970, Eastern Iowa Airport had more than 30 daily flights and was seeing close to 400,000 passengers per day. The airport was renamed in the 1990s and now sees more than half a million passengers every year. With over a dozen gates and five commercial passenger airlines and four cargo airlines, the airport is busy year round.

Cedar Rapids downtown area is about ten miles north of the airport grounds. The airport does not allow smoking in the terminal building or near any of the entrances, so smokers will need to plan for a lack of cigarette breaks by carrying nicotine gum or patches. For those traveling to Eastern Iowa, Eastern Iowa Airport is small enough to make travel easy while still having modern amenities and an extremely friendly staff.

Directions To Eastern Iowa Airport-Cedar Rapids

North: Those coming from the north will take I-380 south towards Iowa City. Take the airport exit (Wright Brothers Boulevard) and follow airport signs.

South: Drivers from the south will also use the I-380 heading towards Cedar Rapids. Take the airport exit (Wright Brothers Boulevard) and follow airport signs.

East: Those heading west to Cedar Rapids will travel on Route 151. As you come into Cedar Rapids (after crossing the bridge over Cedar River) take the left onto Jappa Road. Follow Jappa Road to the intersection with Wright Brothers Boulevard and take a right. Follow Wright Brothers Boulevard straight to the airport.

West: Finally, drivers coming from the west will head east on Route 151 to Cedar Rapids. Take Route 218 to the intersection of Edgewood Road. Turn right onto Edgewood Road and follow airport signs.
