Minneapolis Saint Paul International Airport - MSP
Car Rental
Minneapolis/St. Paul has nine car rental companies to serve travelers' needs. Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz, and National are located in Lindbergh Terminal in the Baggage Claim area. There are a number of interactive kiosks where passengers can rent a car. For more personalized service, passengers should take the underground tram to the central hub building where there are desks for each of these rental companies. Otherwise, passengers will need to take the free shuttle to the remaining area car rental companies, Payless and Thrifty.
Public/Ground Transfer
Metro Transit provides city bus service to many areas in Minneapolis/St. Paul including the Mall of America. Metro Transit departs from the Blue and Red ramp in Lindbergh Terminal. Passengers from Humphrey Terminal need to take the light rail (reopening Fall 2007, free shuttle service is running in the meantime) to Lindbergh Terminal in order to board the buses. The bus ride from the airport to Mall of America takes less than 15 minutes and costs $1.50 for an adult and 50¢ for a senior. Exact change is required.
Light Rail service is available from both Humphrey Terminal and Lindbergh Terminal to take passengers into downtown Minneapolis. Service to Humphrey Terminal has been temporarily stopped while renovations are completed (Fall 2007) , but a free shuttle bus will get passengers to Lindbergh Terminal. Light Rail costs $1.50 during slow times and $2 during the rush hour. This is one of the fastest, least expensive, and easiest ways to get into the city from the airport.
Airport Shuttles
A number of companies offer shuttle service to Minneapolis, St. Paul, or other areas in Minnesota. Advanced reservations are recommended for passengers who are heading to areas like Duluth. Passengers can go to the ticket counters found in the atrium of the Ground Transportation building near the trams in Lindbergh Terminal. Rates vary from company to company, but the ticket counter agents work with customers to ensure the best possible rate.
Limousine Services
A number of limousine companies do offer transportation to and from the airport for any size group. While this method of transportation is most luxurious, it does come with the highest price tag. Reservations are encouraged in advance. Ticketing agents in the atrium in the Ground Transportation area of Lindbergh Terminal can arrange limousine services, but they cannot guarantee availability.
Companies who do offer limousine service include A All Day & Night, A Bella Lusso Limousine, ArcherLimo, Corporate Car & Coach, Eclipse Transportation, Emerald Transportation, Glidden Limousine, MH Limousine Service, P & R Transportation, Sho-Ferd Car & Limo, Star Limousine, Vincents Limousine Services, LLC, and William Jayze Limousines. These companies all have a maximum of ten passengers.
Taxi Services
Taxi cabs can be found outside the Tram Level outside of Lindbergh Terminal and at the Ground Transportation Building at Humphrey Terminal's level one parking ramp. The airport is under 20 miles from downtown Minneapolis and less than 15 miles from the Mall of America. Taxis charge a $3 trip fee plus $1.90 per mile. The average fare to Mall of America is under $25. Taxi is not the least expensive option, but they do bring passengers right to their destination which makes it very convenient.
